(aka the night I screamed at two random grade 9s)
My school had a Christmas social to raise money for the staff who keep this place nice and clean, so they can enjoy Christmas too. I’m part of the social committee, so I got there early to help set up. The hall looked cool, a smoke machine, colourful lights, a DJ and a Photo Booth. My friends and I totally forgot to take photos there, but we still got nice pics! 😜
The event took place from 6 pm – 9 pm. I brought my school backpack because I was going to be there for hours! It had my water bottle, my jacket, etc. I didn’t want anyone grabbing it by mistake, so I took a few photos of its exact spot—just proof. I’m pretty sure I looked a bit weird. (I mean who, takes pics of a backpack? 😭😂). Sam (my friend) and I were with each other most of the night. (The rest of our friends in our group couldn’t come).
While I was taking those silly bag photos, she suddenly looked at me weirdly, then looked behind me. I was super confused. I turned around and there were 2 grade 9 boys, standing not too far away behind me. I got a fright and screamed! Embarrassing right? 😳
Apparently one of them tried saying hi to me, but I found that hard to believe, because (1) boys don’t talk to me and I don’t talk to them and (2) the music was so loud I couldn’t even hear my own thoughts.
They looked a bit shocked after I screamed in their faces. I really didn’t mean to. After that we ended up walking in the same direction as them for like 20 mins. (accidentally-on-purpose). Anyways, and people ask me why I’m still single. I wonder why… 😂
Sam still stuck with me even though her crush was also at the Christmas social. She’s truly a really good friend.
I stayed till the end to help clean up and finally got home to my cozy bed!
Conclusion: I’m still single, still traumatised, still have my backpack (it stayed safe). I guess there you go, zero romance, maximum cringe, exactly how it felt 😂😅.
